Terra Chartarum is a static publication. It has no reader accounts, comments, advertising pixels, behavioural profiles, or forms that collect personal information.

Analytics

This site measures aggregate traffic with Cloudflare Web Analytics: how many pages were viewed, which ones, which site a visitor arrived from, and a country-level location. It is enabled on the hosting platform rather than in the page source, so the measurement script is added when the site is served.

Cloudflare states that Web Analytics uses no cookies and no other client-side storage for analytics, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track people over time by IP address or user-agent string. Referral counts are derived from page views rather than from stored visitor identities. See Cloudflare's account of how the measurement works and its privacy policy.

Because that configuration sets no analytics cookies and stores nothing on your device, this site publishes this notice instead of a cookie-consent banner asking permission for storage it does not use. If the provider, measurements, storage, or legal context changes, analytics must be held until this notice and the consent decision are reviewed again.

A second, unused integration for Plausible Analytics remains in the site code. It is disabled: no Plausible script is emitted on any page, and enabling it would require a new build explicitly configured with a site-specific script.

External links and media

Essays link to libraries, archives, map collections, scholarship, and source records. Following an external link takes you to another organisation with its own privacy practices. The portal's production images and fonts are served from the site itself; a catalogue record may preserve an external source URL for attribution without loading it automatically.

Search engines

The site is registered with Google Search Console, which reports how often its pages appeared in search results and which queries led to them. Those reports are aggregate counts produced by the search engine from its own logs; the site neither receives nor stores anything about an individual searcher.

Operational logs

The hosting provider may process ordinary request and security logs needed to deliver and protect the site. Those platform logs are separate from the analytics described above.

Changes

Analytics remains a reversible feature: it can be switched off at the hosting platform, which stops the script being served on every page. Material changes to collection or tracking require an updated privacy review before release.
